Compact Imaging Names Don Bogue CEO
Veteran Silicon Valley
Executive to Lead
OCT Technology Company
Mountain View, CA-October 25, 2011--Don Bogue, a veteran Silicon Valley executive and entrepreneur, has been named CEO of Compact Imaging, Inc. (CI).Compact Imaging (www.compactimaging.com) is an early stage technology company focused on the expanding market for non-invasive optical imaging, measurement and analysis.Bogue came to CI after the successful distribution of capital from Command Audio, a company that he co-founded and led from its inception in 1995. Command Audio held the underlying patents for on-demand media applications such as digital video recorders (DVRs), advanced digital radios and associated services
During his tenure, the privately-held Command Audio raised $85 million from strategic partners, successfully enforced its patents and subsequently licensed its intellectual property portfolio to major media and manufacturing companies, including Cisco/Scientific-Atlanta, Motorola, Sirius Satellite Radio, Sony and Thomson Consumer Electronics, before selling the portfolio to a major consumer electronics concern.
Bogue joins CI, founded in 2003, at a critical stage in its development. CI holds a portfolio of US patents and US and foreign patent applications covering multiple-reference optical coherence tomography (MRO™). The underlying imaging technology, optical coherence tomography (OCT), was commercialized a decade ago for use in ophthalmic and medical diagnostic imaging applications. MRO™ is a radically different architecture from that used in conventional OCT systems. MRO™ enables design of small form factor (cell phone size), low cost devices ideally-suited both to integration into large multi-purpose instruments for clinical use and to higher volume mobile or remote applications.
“I’m excited about the opportunity for Compact Imaging to bring truly innovative technology to health care applications that are desperate for simple, robust, cost-effective solutions,” said Bogue, who holds a degree in economics from Harvard University.
“We have an impressive technology base and a strong technology team supported by world-renowned scientific and medical advisors. The real human need in a range of health care applications and environments creates a market demand for innovation that is both urgent and growing.”
CI, headquartered in Mountain View, CA, is privately-held. It was previously named FP Technology.
