Woodlands Market Contributes $27,000
To Kentfield Schools
Proceeds from 22nd Annual BBQ,
Additional Donation Support
School District Foundation
Kentfield, CA - September 24, 2008
Woodlands Market today announced that its annual contribution to the Kentfield School District Foundation would exceed $27,000.
Don Santa, owner and founder of Woodlands Market, said the donation is a combination of all the proceeds from the 22nd annual fundraising barbeque that the Kentfield market hosted recently at the market and additional contributions and matching grants from the Santa Family.
Woodlands Market has provided the site and food as well as the entire proceeds for all 22 years of the Kentfield School District fundraiser.
Since its founding in 1986, Woodlands Market has contributed more than $2.2 million to community activities.
“We are committed to our local schools,” said Santa. “I can’t think of a better way to give back to our community and our neighbors than to support our schools.”
In 2007, Woodlands Market provided more than $100,000 to community non-profit organizations, via direct giving and also through its eScrip program. The Woodlands Foundation was formed in 2008 to formalize the company’s on-going community support programs.
Typically, grocery businesses spend up to 2 percent of their gross revenues on advertising. Woodlands Market, however, has contributed that percentage to non-profit organizations rather than to employ conventional advertising.
