Corporate Communications/PR Consultant Kentfield, CA - January 24, 2005 TOBIN & Associates, a corporate communications, reputation management and public relations firm, has opened offices at 929 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Kentfield, it was announced by Gary Tobin, principal of the firm. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2005, TOBIN & Associates designs and implements programs for corporations, non-profits organizations and other agencies. It has previously operated from offices in New York and Seattle, prior to relocating to Marin County last year. It is affiliated with Truitt & Kirkpatrick, a New York-based firm, and The Davis Partnership, based in London. Tobin, a former reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, opened the firm after an extensive corporate career. He has held senior PR and marketing positions with MCI Communications, American Express Co., and First Data Corporation. He was also PR director for Heublein, Inc., when that company owned the Inglenook Winery and Beaulieu Vineyards. “During my consulting career,” he said, “I have worked with small, regional firms as well as major, global Fortune 100 companies. Despite their size differences, they shared a common need to clarify how they talked about themselves, whether they were selling a product, building a brand or advocating a position.” In addition to his consulting practice, Tobin is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and contributor to publications. He was most recently published in the OpEd section of the Dec. 20, 2004 of PR Week magazine. “Today’s companies and organizations face an unprecedented environment of message clutter and confusion,” Tobin, a graduate of San Francisco State University, said. “The ability to reach key audiences has become increasingly more difficult. What my experience and skill sets bring to clients is an ability to identify core messages and values and then to design vehicles to communicate them effectively, efficiently and in a manner that sets them apart.” Since moving his offices to Northern California, Tobin has been engaged for project assignments by Context Marketing of Sausalito, Epic Bancorp and Tamalpais Bank of Marin County. He has also provided pro bono services to the Special Olympics of Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties and consulted with the Marine Mammal Center of Sausalito. “My assignments in the past
six months have covered a broad range of marketing, PR and reputation
management activities,” Tobin said. “The principles
of marketing and PR—communicating clearly and in a timely
manner—are universal. What we attempt to do is provide an
experienced and reasonable approach that makes sense to clients
and allows them to deliver a message, whether it is a sales proposition
