Gary Tobin Elected to Board of SF PR Roundtable

Kentfield, CA—January 4, 2006

Gary Tobin, principal of the Marin County-based public relations and consulting firm TOBIN & Associates, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Public Relations Roundtable (SF PRRT).

“I am extremely pleased to join the Board,” said Tobin, a one-time reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and later a senior corporate communications executive at several global firms (American Express, First Data Corp, MCI Communications) based in New York and Washington D.C.  “Northern California is clearly one of the most vibrant and creative areas in the country and provides ample opportunity for PR and marketing consultants.”

The Roundtable, founded in 1939, is one of the oldest PR industry associations in the U.S.  Tobin, who created his firm in 1995, opened his Marin County office in January 2005, after a 25-year absence from the Bay Area.

Starting from a zero-client base in January, Tobin has built his practice to include:

• Command Audio, a San Mateo-based IP and patent technology company;
• Bluestein & Associates, a Larkspur-based business development firm in the wireless and cellular industries, and
• Bock Communications, an Orange County-based marketing and PR firm in the wireless and technology segments.

Additionally, he provides pro bono consulting services to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.  He is also a member of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce.

During 2005, he also performed project work for Epic Bancorp (NASDAQ: EPIK), parent company of Tamalpais Bank, the California Milk Advisory Board, and two major law firms.  He has also contributed editorials to the KQED-FM program “Perspectives.”

“My return to California after more than two decades on the East Coast has been extremely rewarding,” he said.  “And 2006 looks very promising.  I am starting an assignment with a major law firm and continuing my work with my three principal 2005 clients.”
